Dr. Mohammad Sidiq, Ph.D., FAIMER Fellow, Certified Bioethics Researcher
Dr. Mohammad Sidiq is an accomplished academician, researcher, and clinician with over 17 years of experience spanning physiotherapy education, research, and clinical practice. Currently serving as Assistant Professor at the Department of Physiotherapy, Tishk International University, Erbil, Iraq, he leads the Biomedical & Image Processing Research Lab and is recognized internationally as a Senior Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) Collaborator with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), USA. A FAIMER Fellow at Ain Shams University, Egypt, Dr. Sidiq holds a Ph.D. in Physiotherapy (Pain Sciences) and an MPT in Orthopedics, underpinned by a strong foundation from his Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy. His expertise encompasses pain sciences, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, biomechanics, and advanced physiotherapeutic techniques, with additional qualifications as an Accredited Dynamic Taping Tutor (Australia). Dr. Sidiq’s leadership is reflected in his roles as Research Leader for the Musculoskeletal Group at the School of Allied Health Sciences, Galgotias University (India), Member Secretary of the Research Ethics Committee, and Core Research Faculty member at the Galgotias Research Centre. He has also guided numerous Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate students, contributing significantly to research mentorship and capacity building.
An established scholar, Dr. Sidiq has authored and co-authored over 80 scientific papers in Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed-indexed journals, including The Lancet, JACC, Scientific Reports, PLOS ONE, and European Journal of Physiotherapy, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 286. His publications address global health challenges, musculoskeletal disorders, pain management, and the integration of AI in physiotherapy research. In recognition of his scholarly excellence, he has been invited to collaborate on international studies under the prestigious Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2023 and was selected for the Global Research Scholar Training Program at Harvard Medical School (2023). Dr. Sidiq’s editorial and peer-review contributions are extensive—he serves as Academic Editor for PLOS ONE, Frontiers in Nephrology, and several leading physiotherapy journals, while reviewing for over 15 international journals across Springer, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier platforms. His exceptional contributions have earned him multiple accolades, including the Homi J. Bhabha Research Award (2025), Research Excellence Award (2024), Senior Researcher Award (2023), and Outstanding Contribution to Research in Physical Therapy Award (2023). He has also been honored with awards from the Ministry of Defence, Saudi Arabia, and Special Forces, Oman, underscoring his impact across regions. Dr. Sidiq’s professional affiliations include lifetime memberships with the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, International Health & Fitness Association, Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, and Indian Clinical Research Association (ICRA), where he has served as President since 2019.
