I am a full professor at the Department of Stem Cell Biology at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I served as the Chairman of the Department of Stem Cell Biology, IRMC, IAU from 2018 to 2023. Before joining IAU, I was a Professor and Chairperson at the School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education in Dubai, UAE. I have 27 years of research (post PhD) and 20 years of university teaching experience. I received my PhD degree in animal neuroscience from Nagpur University, India. I did my first postdoctoral fellowship at the National Centre for Biological Sciences in Bengaluru, India, and my second at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.

I have been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervising MSc and PhD theses. I have been a member of several academic accreditation committees in India, Dubai, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. I have extensive senior leadership experience, having held various positions such as Chairperson/Head of Department at multiple universities in Dubai, UAE, and Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I have actively participated in university committees for academic program development, faculty development, strategic planning, resource allocation, international dual degree programs, convocations, research conferences, international academic collaboration, student admission, dual program design and curricula development, and student exchange programs.

I am honored to serve as an Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Member for several journals and as a reviewer for indexed journals published by prestigious publishers such as Nature, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Dove Press, and Wiley. My research expertise encompasses cancer therapeutics, neuroscience, stem cells, and regenerative medicine. I have authored over 124 research papers, which have been published in high-impact factor journals indexed in Web of Science/Scopus. Additionally, I have edited influential books published by Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis, and CRC Press. I have received 18 US patents and 10 US patents currently in the publication stage. My contributions to the field have been recognized with national and international awards. My research interests revolve around exploring the anti-cancer potential of nanomaterials/biomaterials and also studying their impact on stem cell differentiation and regenerative medicine.
