Assistant/Associate Professor, Public Health & Medication Safety

With over two decades of experience spanning pharmacy, public health and academia, I am committed to improving population and patient-outcomes through rigorous research, education and practice. My work has focused on medication safety, pharmacovigilance, health-systems strengthening and digital health interventions, particularly in the Middle East and global contexts.

Key research contributions include:

  • Exploring adverse-drug-reaction reporting systems: early work investigated the barriers and facilitators to patient and physician reporting of ADRs in Canada.
  • Investigating public-health issues such as sleep behaviour, obesity, depression and eating habits in adolescents in the UAE.
  • Leading systematic reviews on digital technology for mental-health system strengthening in the UAE and adoption of generics & biosimilars in the MENA region.
  • Serving as a certified Drug Information Specialist (University of Iowa, 2006) and influencing policy & practice through collaborations with regulatory and health-authority stakeholders.

As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), I also bring a passion for teaching and mentorship—guiding students and early-career researchers to translate evidence into practice. My goal remains to harness interdisciplinary methods and stakeholder partnerships to address complex health-system challenges and advance safe, effective healthcare delivery at scale.
