Dr. Kanika Vats is a health professional, registered pharmacist, researcher, and academic with a PhD in Healthcare Management, specializing in antimicrobial stewardship and resistance. With over 16 years of experience spanning academia, regulatory science, clinical practice, and health systems research, Dr. Vats brings a unique combination of public health expertise and clinical insight to advance health education, policy, and practice.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (UK) and the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), which reflects her commitment to improving healthcare quality and public health outcomes.
Dr. Vats currently serves as the Certification Controller and Project Head at TASNEEF (Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement). In this capacity, she has led several quality, compliance, and scientific initiatives, including leading the development of healthcare regulatory tools in collaboration with health authorities and industry experts. These efforts have strengthened her expertise in policy development, regulatory frameworks, and in building effective partnerships between regulators and the healthcare sector.
Dr. Vats is also passionate about advancing collaborative efforts to enhance the healthcare research ecosystem, driving innovation, knowledge exchange, and evidence-based practice.
Her teaching, mentoring and research interests include Antimicrobial stewardship, resistance, and infectious disease control; Public health preparedness, emergency response, and health system resilience; Regulatory science, health policy, and clinical decision support; Pharmacy practice, medication safety, and healthcare quality; and Translational and applied research in public health.
Dr. Vats also contributes as a reviewer and guest editor for several peer-reviewed journals and actively participates in scientific events. Additionally, she serves on the Board of the IVPN Clinical Research Listserv.
